Black church history

Jeremiah looked at a wounded people and asked why healing had not come. Centuries later, enslaved Black Christians received that lament and sang it through Christ into hope: there is a balm in Gilead. This spiritual does not deny the wound or make peace with oppression. It proclaims that suffering will not have the final word.
