After a couple months of planning and waiting, my first week-long vacation is finally here! Tomorrow morning, I step onto a plane bound for Phoenix and won’t be back for a whole week. I’ve never taken a vacation this long before – most are usually just 3 or 4 days – and this will be the first one in over 10 years that requires boarding a plane instead of hopping in a car.
It’s exciting to be taking some time to recharge and relax and to disengage from the stresses of professional ministry. It’s been a long time and I’m sure way over-due, but on the other hand I’m also going to have a hard time “breaking away.” I’ve been in ministry now for so long that it’s usually difficult for me to fully let go of everything for a week and just relax. Being with family will help, I’m sure – but it’ll be interesting to see how things go!
I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted on the events and adventures of my trip, so check back in over the next week and see what I’ve been up to!
