Sunday Setlist – August 30, 2009
Sunday, August 30 at Journey.
We celebrated a baptism in the service and took this opportunity, on one more week between series, to look at what baptism is all about and why it matters.
The Service
All We Need (G), Charlie Hall
We Are Hungry (A), Jeff Deyo Version
More Love, More Power (D/Bm), Jeff Deyo Version
Following the message,
Mighty to Save (D), Hillsongs United
Closing Song
All to You (E), Lincoln Brewster
All the songs this week were ones that we’ve done many times before and are really solid songs for both the team and the congregation. All summer, we have worship services on Thursday evening (our usual rehearsal night) so we haven’t had real rehearsals all summer. We run through everything before the service, but we don’t have a couple hours set aside for serious rehearsing. To help make it possible, I didn’t introduce any new music in July and August, the months we have summer evening worship, so now I have a HUGE backlog of new songs that I can’t wait to start working in once we get back to rehearsals next week!
While you’re at it, check out what other churches did over at the Sunday Setlist blog carnival.

Sometimes it’s nice to have a season where you do familiar “easy-to-do” songs. It gives everyone an opportunity to focus on the Lord without having to work hard at playing / singing the music. At the same time, we’re really blessed to have so much new music available. It would be awful to have to go back to the days when it was very, very, very hard to find!
Great list Matthew! I have always enjoyed the Deyo version of “More Love, More Power”. Thanks for the reminder on it!
