Worship in the Modern World

Praising God with the Best of the Past and the Present

Sunday Setlist – August 23, 2009

Sunday, August 23 at Journey.

This week while we’re between series, we looked at what worship is all about -focusing on what it is (a response to God’s love) and what it’s not (music, style, liturgy, etc). It’s not something we tend to focus on or think about much so it was nice to pause and reflect.

The Service

Let God Arise (B), Chris Tomlin

Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord (E), SonicFlood Version

  • It’s been a long time since we’ve pulled out this oldie-but-goodie, but it always goes over well – definitely one that will be around for a long time.

Hallelujah (G), Brenton Brown

  • Another older one that doesn’t get a lot of play, but it’s always fun when we do. This one has a great groove that’s fun to play.

To setup the message, we used this video from Worship House Media: A Life of Worship.

  • I’ve had the song stuck in my head ever since yesterday. It might be one that shows up on this list someday!

Following the message, during communion.

Pieces (B), Red

Beautiful the Blood (C) Steve Fee

Closing Song

Let Creation Sing (D), Hillsong United

While you’re at it, check out what other churches did over at the Sunday Setlist blog carnival.
