Journey through Lent – Day 30
Mark 15:24-27
And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.
It was the third hour when they crucified him. The written notice of the charge against him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS. They crucified two robbers with him, one on his right and one on his left.
How quickly we pass over that first sentence: They crucified him. We need to renew our sense of horror and wonder. For they crucified God: The Author of Life now dying on the place of the skull; the Lord of all now slave to death; the sinless One now made to be sin; the only Son of God now forsaken by the Father, left to die with the sinners he came to save.
