Having fun with "the Game of Life"
Sunday we kicked off our latest series “The Game of Life.” We were trying to find some way to make this a fun and interactive series and after a few weeks of throwing ideas around, we decided to mix the whole service up. We got into a rut with the layout of the service so we mixed it all up and kicked the service off with a skit where we “invaded” a busy family with a game show.
I think this is another of those series that will really resonate with everyone. This week was all about the rules of the game. When most people think of church, they usually go strait to the rules – what you can’t do, what you must do, what you shouldn’t think about, etc. But the rules are simple. Jesus said that he came so that we could have “life to the full.” We’re not supposed to get hung up on the rules and regulations. We’re supposed to be enjoying the journey that we’re all on – experiencing it and sharing it with one another. What a freeing way to look at life! Does that mean we can ignore all the rules just to have fun? Of course not! Part of the journey is about living the life that God designed for us and that design includes some rules to help us stay on the right path. The point is that we’re not supposed to fixate on the rules but on the journey.
I can’t wait to see how the rest of this series plays out!!
