Worship in the Modern World

Praising God with the Best of the Past and the Present

God in the Garage

Last night, we kicked off “God in the Garage”. Some folks around Journey have been asking for a regular Bible study, but it’s not in the cards for a Sunday morning like “normal” churches do. But hey, we’re not a “normal” church, so we decided we’ll have Bible study somewhere else. We did some looking around for a venue, and decided on the ‘garage’ at Logan’s roadhouse. It’s essentially a backroom, but it’s got a great atmosphere for a Bible study/discussion. Not to mention you can order whatever you want. Since last night was our first time, we weren’t sure what to expect, but it was awesome. Everyone had a great time and they’re excited for the next one.

One of the most exciting parts about Journey is how we’re not afraid to do things differently than everyone else. How many other churches out there do you know of where the Pastor leads a Bible study with a beer in his hand and in a place where you can throw peanut shells on the floor? I can’t wait to see how this ministry grows in the weeks and months to come!

1Jo 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jo 2:16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
2Jo 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

I think your first scripture sums up why we do what we do here at Journey: We’re transforming the world around us and what better way than to be out in the world.
