Series: Be Contagious

Title: “Critical”

After the stress of the last two weeks with losing my father unexpectedly and the aftermath of that whole event (which finally concludes with the memorial service this week), I was ready to get back into the swing of things.  I’ve gotten out of rhythm in everything – from my day-to-day routine to things like Twitter, Facebook and Blogging.  I didn’t do a Sunday Setlist last week not because I wasn’t there but because I was so out of it I wouldn’t have remembered enough to even comment on it.  I don’t expect to be back to “normal” (whatever that really is) any time soon. And rightly so – loosing a parent is a significant event and not something to overcome quickly. However, I’m glad that because of the tremendous support of family and friends, I’m feeling more and more like myself everyday.

But enough about me, let’s look at today’s worship:

The Service

Let God Arise, Chris Tomlin

  • One we’ve done a number of times and the church knows it really well.

All We Need, Charlie Hall

  • Another one they know well and it’s a fun song too.

Meet with Me, Lamont Hiebert

  • An oldie but a goodie. We don’t do this one much any more, but it’s nice to pull it out and dust it off from time to time.

For the message, we used two video clips:

  1. This one from Worship House Media opened the message and set the stage for what Pastor Bob would share.
  2. This video featuring Penn from Penn & Teller sharing about an experience he had after a show when a man gave him the gift of a Bible. Pretty powerful.

Mighty to Save, Hillsongs United

  • I love this song and I love how Marlin (The worship leader this week) gets into it.

Blessed Be Your Name, Matt Redman

  • Another one that we do less and less now, but still pull it out when it fits, and most of the church knows it really well. It’s great to hear them sing out on it!

I was glad to be back in the saddle this week and actually be able to focus and engage in the service instead of just being on auto-pilot like last week. The weeks ahead will be better and better as time goes on.
