Reising is dead on when he reminds us that marketing your church starts from the inside. It’s more than postcards and commercials – marketing the church is about everything we do. And I whole heartedly agree that over 50% of churches should not be promoting themselves. It’s shocking to hear at first, but when you consider that marketing yourself as a church is about everything you do, you first need to get everything you do in order. It’s not that they should never market themselves, just not yet. Marketing yourself one way when you are, in reality, very different causes more damage than if you fixed things and then marketed.
All in all, this is a must-read for anyone in church leadership.
